Haven’t been in a music class since elementary school? Join Maddy Scotto to review some basic rhythm reading and terminology! Topics explored will include rhythm reading and dictation, time signatures, and polyrhythm. Beginners as well as students with some music background are very welcomed!
Maddy Scotto has been drumming with EarthBeat Music since 2018, studying with Chelsie Henderson, Wayne White, Adam Witt as well as Master Drummers Bolokada Conde, M'Bemba Bangoura and Sayon Camara. She has been teaching General Music PK-5 and Chorus in Schenectady City Schools for almost 20 years and has been a Music Director for shows with the Corinth and Glens Falls Theatre Guilds.

Summer 2025 | 6 Week Series | ALL LEVELS
Join Colin Eletto and his current North Star Samba students for a 6-week Brazilian Samba Community Club - escola de samba - percussion experience. Come learn the fundamentals and beyond of Samba rhythm as played in the Carnaval parades of Rio de Janeiro. Participants will learn calls and responses, breaks and vocabulary - all the mechanics of a Samba Bateria (ensemble of drummers).
Instruments are provided! Please note that this is a performance group. You must be committed to learning the material with a collective goal of sharing the music in the community as frequently as schedules allow.

Strum in Joy! is more than just a ukulele class—it’s a welcoming space to explore music and self-expression while building confidence, community, and overall well-being. If ever there was a time that we needed to gather love, kindness, and creativity around ourselves and one another, it is now. Over 8 weeks, you’ll be guided through the fundamentals of ukulele and group singing in a way that’s playful, encouraging, and deeply connecting. Whether you're strumming for the first time or returning to music after a break, this course is your invitation to experience the joy of strumming and singing together.
What to Expect:
Start with the basics of ukulele playing and singing—no experience needed!
Progress to playing as part of a group ensemble.
Celebrate with a final performance and opportunities to play at community events.
Learn a wide variety of musical styles in a welcoming, heart-centered space.
