Do I need my own drum?
We have drums available for students to borrow in class. You can also borrow one from a local library. However, to fully dive into the music and practice at home, we recommend eventually getting your own drum.
What if I can’t commit to every class and/or practice?
No problem. We take into account the reality that you are all happenin’ people and do not expect you to attend every single class and practice. However, YOU will get the most benefit from participating in as many sessions as possible, and WE as a TEAM will also get the most benefit the more often you are present.
Can I record the classes?
Yes!
Do I need to have experience?
No experience necessary. Beginners are very welcome! Just think: everyone starts as a beginner at their craft at one point!
Can I still participate if I have mobility challenges?
Yes! We understand that every body is different, and we strive to make our programs truly inclusive and accessible for all.
No prior experience is required—everyone starts as a beginner! Whether you’re looking for personal growth, to meet new people, or to share your skills with friends and family, Drum in Joy! offers something for everyone.

TRANSFORMATIVE
“Taking classes at EarthBeat Music has truly been a transformative experience. Chelsie, the owner and instructor, is skilled and deeply passionate about preserving and sharing the rich cultural traditions of West African drumming and dance. The sessions have been invaluable in helping me develop my technique, rhythm, and understanding of the music at a deeper level.
What sets EarthBeat Music apart is the sense of community it fosters. It's not just about the classes, lessons, and workshops with West African Drum Masters – it's about connecting with like-minded people who share a love for music, culture, and expression. EarthBeat Music creates a welcoming, supportive environment where everyone feels encouraged to grow, no matter their skill level. Whether you're a beginner or an experienced drummer, the experience is both challenging and rewarding.
I recommend EarthBeat Music to anyone interested in drumming, cultural exploration, or connecting with a vibrant community. It's been an enriching and unforgettable journey!”
