About EarthBeat Music
At EarthBeat Music, our mission is to cultivate empathic and resilient communities through musical expression. We know that music has the power to bring people together and inspire change. Our programs are designed to encourage personal growth, creativity, and emotional well-being.
EarthBeat Music is rooted in social and environmental responsibility. I am committed to learning about and showing up to support humanity and our home.
As a musician, small business owner, and community organizer who identifies as white, American, and Woman, it is of utmost importance that I lead a life that demonstrates anti-racism as the only way forward; to say loudly and clearly that Black Lives Matter and that white supremacy is a systemic issue that must and will be dismantled.
EarthBeat Music welcomes and affirms people to be their whole selves, honoring their multiple identities and lived experiences, while resisting systems of oppression that marginalize individuals and communities based on social identities. Racism, homophobia, transphobia, ageism, ableism and other marginalizations are not welcomed here.
I continue to do everything in my power to protect our precious planet, to advocate for clean air and water, and stay engaged with sustainable farming practices and avenues for accessibility to these healthy foods, for all.
I endeavor to support and collaborate with other social and environmental justice aligning artists, small businesses, and community organizations.
Love,
Chelsie
Heart-Centered Core Values:
-
We honor the culture-bearers—the composers, teachers, instrument-builders, and musicians—of all of the music we explore. We honor the Master Musicians of traditional West African Music, as well as other Global Majority roots music. We honor each student's unique journey and perspective.
-
We elevate marginalized peoples and care for them in the way they request from us to be cared for. We elevate our elders as our leaders and the next generation as our leaders-in-training.
-
We accept all instructors', students' and community collaborators' backgrounds and whole selves. We accept our own selves and strive to lead with compassion, patience, and love.
-
We resist oppressive forces through our collective joy. Much of the music we explore in classes is coming from a place of resistance throughout history.
-
We transcend the obstacles in our minds during classes. We transcend our differences and the suffering of the world while drumming, strumming, singing, and dancing together.
Whether it’s through rhythm, song, or movement, our goal is to create a space where individuals can explore their creativity, build community, and experience the transformative power of music.
