Afro-Brazilian Percussion Workshop for All Levels with Everton Isidoro
Discover the powerful heartbeats that connect West Africa to the streets and terreiros of Bahia, Brazil. We will explore the foundational rhythms and traditions that shape Afro-Brazilian culture, and fundamental techniques and ensemble patterns while experiencing how the different instrumental parts interlock. We will learn about the interplay between traditional Afro-religious grooves like the sacred rhythms of Candomblé to the vibrant, festive energy of Bahia drumming. No prior music experience is needed, just bring your energy, and a desire to connect through the transformative power of the drum. Some instruments will be provided, and all levels are welcome. Co-sponsored with the Easton Library.
