Resilient Strummers All Levels Ukulele 6 Week Series

In the spirit of community, Resilient Strummers of all ages and experience levels are invited to play their ukuleles - and sing! - through the months of January and February via online classes with a final in-person gathering to play the songs explored!
Each week we will cover a technique exercise to strengthen your sound and confidence, and will learn ukulele songs from various genres such as bluegrass, blues, etc.
Classes on Zoom are 40 minutes in total: 30 minutes of instruction followed by 10 minutes of Q + A and greetings! All classes are recorded and shared on the same evening as the class and will be accessible for the entirety of the 6 weeks.
Additionally, all participants may sign up for one complimentary 30 minute 1:1 lesson! A link to sign up for a lesson time will be shared one week before the classes begin. Please note that all private lessons will be held at Chelsie’s home in Easton.

Drummers will focus on the amazing dunduns family made up of the dundunba, songban and kenkeni! Participants will explore rhythms in both the traditional style and the more modern Ballet style. Beginners are very welcomed!

In this two-week series we will collect to strum ukuleles and sing for peace deep within ourselves and weave that positivity into our communities and send it throughout the world. The songs and rhythms explored will be around the themes of peace, resilience and gratitude.
Ukulele players can look forward to strengthening their ukulele strumming and fingerpicking technique while learning new skills and songs, and making new "strumily" friends!

Family and friends of current DiJ and SiJ participants are welcomed to join to listen and will be invited to drum and/or sing all together in the spirit of community at the very end.
Donations will be accepted for Guinean Master Drummer and Dancer Seny Daffe to support the resettlement process for his family.

Strum in Joy! is more than just a ukulele class—it’s a welcoming space to explore music and self-expression while building confidence, community, and overall well-being. If ever there was a time that we needed to gather love, kindness, and creativity around ourselves and one another, it is now. Over 8 weeks, you’ll be guided through the fundamentals of ukulele and group singing in a way that’s playful, encouraging, and deeply connecting. Whether you're strumming for the first time or returning to music after a break, this course is your invitation to experience the joy of strumming and singing together.
