Afro Frame Drumming Series
september-november 2026 | 9 Week Series | All levels
Learn the herstory and techniques of the ancient frame drum! We will begin each class drumming with beaters (mallets) while focusing on breathing and singing. For most of our time together we will be playing in upright (hand held) style. Simple movement will be incorporated to embody heartbeat while we explore foundational rhythms from around the world with particular attention to rhythms from the African continent. Frame drums are available to use in class as needed, but do bring your own if you’d prefer! “All Levels” is for beginners to more advanced players!
You will receive nine 75-minute in-person classes, plus:
A “welcome” instructional video and a final recap video of all material covered
A culminating Community Celebration + Jam

CLASS SPECIFICS
WHEN: 9 Sundays from September 20 to November 22 at 4:15-5:30 pm
No class October 4 | Final Celebration + Jam details will be announced at our first class!

WHO: All levels (beginner to experienced) | Ages 13+ | 24 students max
