Dear EarthBeat Music Family,

I have a BIG heart-centered announcement to share with you all: on the Autumn Equinox I set the intention to end my wonderful 12 year tenancy at 90 Broad Street in Schuylerville (or 13.5 year run of having a centrally located biz if I include those formative years in the original Rural Soul Studio on Main Street in Greenwich!), effective December 31, 2025.

The truth is, I have been deeply contemplating this option for several years. After some monumental life transitions and losses, I have simply lost my verve for running a downtown brick-and-mortar business. By listening closely to my heart, I accept that now is the right time. I am ready and content.

But please don’t fret! EarthBeat Music will very much continue to cultivate empathic and resilient communities through musical expression in other collaborative people’s studios, third spaces, venues and on!

You all know that in any given year EBM programming reaches a wide range of schools, libraries, community centers, parks, camps and festivals throughout the region. We’re on the move, and that will remain consistent to ensure that the programs are accessible to an ever-growing drumily and strumily.

Throughout the month of December I will offer a line up of special “Farewell to the Studio" classes and workshops.  A special Winter Solstice event on 12/21 will be the last official EarthBeat Music public offering at the studio. All TBA!

In January and February I will be offering online classes, such as Resilient Drummers, and will be focused on some school and library residencies. Also TBA!

By mid-Winter I will know where all EBM classes and workshops will be held in our vibrant Cap Reg for Spring and on. Location ideas include Easton, Cambridge, Malta and Troy. I look forward to piecing those details together. I know we will infuse our JOY wherever we go!

It has been a most incredible journey taking a little seed of an idea - with absolutely no initial business plan nor business experience! -and creating a thriving musical village of interconnected, compassionate and creative people and organizations.

The studio has been a rock all of these years through multiple moves, personal losses and even the pandemic; through business name changes and evolving musical offerings. 

Many local educators have also called the studio home for teaching their music, art or language lessons and classes, and I am so grateful to them: Katy Svatek, Sarah Docherty, Laura Donovan, Wayne White, Walter Thiem, Alan Epstein, Alex Grandy, Vicki Young, Johanna Waldron, Andrew Mollica, Holly McCormack, Abdul Samassa, Colin Eletto, Madeleine Scotto, Lydia Martin and more; and all of the Master Musicians from West Africa who have graced the space: M'Bemba Bangoura, Bolokada Conde, Sayon Camara, Namory Keita, Seny Daffe, Ismael Bangoura, Abou Sylla, Ismael Kouyate, Yacouba Sissoko and more!  

Hundreds of children and adults have been held by the studio’s walls, finding safety and acceptance through retreats, camps, shop open hours, potlucks, community meetings, 1:1 lessons, classes, workshops, etc. The memories are invaluable and will be cherished by all of us forever.

My ultimate hope is that making this downtown commercial space available opens up a rainbow of possibilities for another creative entrepreneur and to the community at large, to help Schuylerville and surrounds continue to grow!
