Here’s what to expect for this FREE, all ages event:
Meet under the Pavilion at Hudson Crossing Park at 6:00-6:30 pm to learn about one of the oldest musical instruments: the frame drum! I am at the very beginnings of my own frame drumming journey and am honored to share this first big step with you. I will have frame drums for all to try, but feel free to bring your own if you have one.
Following this mini-workshop, from 6:45-7:30 pm, we will move to the Labyrinth and segue into a Community Drum and Song Circle where all drums are welcomed! We will honor the Autumn Equinox and drum and sing for peace. Frank Lombardo (Spirited Creation) will light up our Circle with large lanterns and puppetry! For this part, please bring a chair, and a drum or other percussion.
No registration is necessary! Join the frame drumming portion, the Community Drum Circle portion, or the whole event. All ages welcomed. This event is rain or shine - we will meet under the Pavilion for the entire program if there is rain!
Donations will be gratefully accepted for Saratoga Immigration Coalition (SIC). SIC seeks to foster, through support, education and advocacy, a community that is welcoming to all immigrants without regard to legal status. SIC works in partnership with immigrants and service providers who work directly with immigrants and cooperates with allied organizations that share SIC’s vision of social justice.
Last but not least, participants from the previous evening’s Saratoga Peace Week Kites and Lites for Peace event are invited to bring their lanterns to place in the Labyrinth at any time during the program.
